kedd - I said bye bye to Jerry because I didn't want to be a fan of him anymore. I'm still a fan but the feelings for him is not that strong anymore as it used to be. Sorry undecided

Yes and no i accept Jerry's new status. Still there is something deep inside in my heard that makes me sad and hurts me.

And there is something else because now i know that Charlie's girlfriend Sarah is invited to Jerry's and Rebecca's wedding and i'm jealous because she is woman like you and me and not a celebrity "she is just a little nurse" i never liked her and I have a feeling that Sarah's little sister is also invited. It just makes me sad that's all. But please don't laugh at me.

Look, i still have a feeling that Jerry's and Rebeccas engagement won't work out but that is just my opinion, ok? So, i hope you aren't mad at me and you understand what i'm saying? I just want to be honest about my feelings.

Karin

*edit* kedd - you said Jerry is still avaiable for his fans but for me he is not because I only can see him on tv but not touch or speak or take him in my arms and say hello. But for you all who live in America sometimes you can meet Jerry and touch him and speak to him. When i i went to the Universal Studios and had a chance to walk through te set of Crossing Jordan i didn't have a chance to say hello to Jerry or when i was in San Diego with kedd Jerry also didn't show up. I know some fans here at the forum had the chance to meet Jerry or Charlie. cry

Kedd,
I have never read any gossip about anything, except in here and I haven't even seen anything about Jerry and Rebecca on tv. I don't watch much tv, because I'm too busy on the computer. I just have my own opinion on how I feel about the whole thing. Everyone makes a point and that's just their opinion. The reason why I called Lettacehead a troll is that it means that someone is posing as a celebrity in a forum, I doubt very much that it really is Rebecca, because of what she said about Jerry not giving us the time of day. He would, because we are his fans. Nobody said they hated Rebecca, but they wrote that we did."nobody likes a hater" When did someone in this forum say they hated her? Nobody did. The post didn't make sense, because I never read or heard these so called rumors. I'm like way behind when it comes to stuff like that.
I'm glad Kedd and whoever that you're happy for them, but some of us aren't and it's not because we don't care about Jerry, it's because deep down we just feel that he might get his heart broken. I hope to GOD she doesn't break his heart and stomp on it...... I don't believe what I read anyway, because I know alot is made up. Look at the whole Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt crap? I always was a fan of John Stamos since his Blackie days, but that's not why I don't like Rebecca, it's just something about her that bugs me. I'm happy that Jerry's happy, but that's about it.
I'm gonna stick to my feelings about it and I'm happy that everyone has their own feelings about it.

Nanny,

I know you have been a long time fan and supporter of Jerry. I just feel like we are beating a dead horse at this point. IMHO it's totally expected that some fans will be happy about the engagement news and some will not be - and their reasons are their own. I think I've given all the reasons I can for my opinions at this point and used all the logic I can (but sometimes all the logic in the world can't change a person's feelings. That's life. Maybe it was silly for me to even argue my point of view).

I don't blame lettucehead, myself, or Tracey for taking some things that were posted here negatively. I think the only thing I had a bigger issue with in one of your posts was calling someone a troll, when in actuality their post seemed no more inflamatory than anyone elses posts in this thread. So if you point the finger at Luttucehead we also have to point the finger at a few others who seem to be accusing moderators of things they didn't say and stirring the pot (which is pretty ballsy, don't you think?)

We have gotten along well over the years Nanny, I just don't want our different views to get in the way of that.

I can't wait for this to all blow over! I'd hate to have to lock this discussion because it's causing fights.

for the record, jerry proposed on sunday, sept 18. as we flew home early the next morning, which would have been my anniversary with john, the flight attendents kept coming over and talking to us and trying to look at my hand, which i kept hidden for most of the time. by the time we got home our publicists called us and said that us weekly magazine had found out about our engagement and were going to run a story, and all the others were to follow. the flight attendants had called them. we had no choice but to confirm. we hadn't even told our families yet. we did not want to announce it publicly, it was still very fresh and private. yes, i could have taken the ring off for the flight, but he'd just put it on the night before and i was proud and excited. and i always underestimate what vultures people can be, from those united airlines flight attendants, to the media, to the people who believe what they read. in fairness to jerry, he had no idea that the 19 of sept would have been mine and john's anniversary. why should he? i don't sit around reminding jerry of old special days between me and john. that would be awful. the dates that all this came out were just an unhappy coincidence. we were outted by the tabloids. it sucks. i called john myself to let him know, because i thought he should hear it from me before anyone else. he thanked me and wished us the best.

again, i hope none of you ever have to read awful things about yourself written by people you've never met. it feels awful. we are human beings too, with feelings (and computers)

Karin, I understand that happens for some fans when their fave celeb gets married or engaged (as I teen I remember fans actually cried when Simon LeBon of Duran Duran got married. I never felt that way, but I guess it just happens that way for some fans). I'm sorrry you aren't feeling the same way about Jerry anymore, but life does go on doesn't it? Please focus on the happy things in your life smiley I hope you don't become a stranger.

Heck, jealousy is a normal thing - and I admire your honesty for admitting it. But in all fairness, shouldn't Sarah and her family be invited to the wedding? If you were getting married wouldn't you invite your family and their friends? Sometimes I get confused and think people don't like a person like Rebecca because she is a"celeb" - hence they can't envision Jerry liking a woman like themselves who has a more average job or living. But then people don't like Sarah because she isn't a celeb and has a normal job? I guess my conclusion is that no matter who the girlfriend is or what they do for a living fans will be jealous or unhappy huh? What can you do? (by the way, I think it's great that Sarah is a Nurse. It's a noble profession and I'm sure she makes good living. My sister is a Doctor and she always thought I should become a nurse because they make a good living!)

Hey, those are your gut feelings. But they are kind of based on not really knowing either Jerry or Rebecca personally (here I go again thinking logic will change someones mind. Don't mind me wink ). I guess I just want to take the positive approach and wish them the best *sending positive vibes their way*.

I don't mean available as in 'Jerry has to meet every fan personally'. I mean available as an actor with a talent to share with us through his Television and film work. That's how you got to know Jerry and become a fan. You didn't get to be a fan of his by meeting him. It's not like he's suddenly going to stop being an actor, so why stop being a fan? (again this is all my own point of view and I'm not trying to insist you change your mind.)

I hope that clarifies what I said Karin smiley I know we will always have our different points of view. I'm glad we have always been able to talk about it in a nice manner. You are a sweetie and I'm glad we met and had fun in San Diego!

Thanks for the clarifications lettucehead. It's beyond nice of you to take the time to post here in a thoughtful manner. on Sep 23rd, 2005, 1:47pm, lettucehead wrote:

That's understandable. I never realized how aggressive some of the United Airlines flight attendants could be! Actually, during my last flight a few weeks ago I happend to be sitting next to some person of a celebrity status (a nice friendly guy, but I had no idea who he was. ) Anyway, the flight attendant was insisting on getting his autograph and he politely declined. She ended up getting really snippy and unprofessional with him, I couldn't believe it!

That would make perfect sense as well. I had a feeling it was just a coincidence. I hope the tabloids don't put the negative spin on the announcement date (I honestly have not been to the store to check out US or any other magazines. I don't know what they or the Entertainment news have been saying). [/quote]

Great reminders. I think we are all guilty of saying hurtful things about people we don't know on the internet (I'm no saint). All I can do is try to catch myself and not get too catty. As a moderator it's a tough call sometimes - letting people express feelings I might not personally agree with. I know I've said it before (maybe at the Charlie Fan Forum?) If I were a TV, movie star - or any other type of celebrity I think I'd be afraid to read message boards because it would just make me angry as heck!

thanks kedd. as the saying goes, you can't be loved by all. there are enough horrible things going on in this world right now, i don't understand people who feel the need to funnel negativity toward people they don't know. it's completely destructive, not as much to me (i know i dont know them, therefore i dont take it personally), but more to themselves. it used to make me angry, now it just makes me sad, and it makes me feel sorry for them. they're the ones who have to live with themselves

There is no way to know 100% for sure, but from what I *see* on my end there are no red flags telling me it isn't her - so lets just take the posts at face value and treat lettucehead with respect. You have to admit no matter who they are they make a lot of sense wink

Kedd, we've always gotten along all these years and I'm just worried that jerry is jumping into something he hasn't thought about. I'm so annoyed by lettacehead for what she's saying about anybody who dislikes Rebecca. I may not know her personally, but it doesn't mean I have to like her and what's with the "nobody likes a hater?"AGAIN. I really don't care what she thinks of anybody who dislikes Rebecca. I reread what she wrote and she feels sorry for us? why? cause we don't like Rebecca? Ok since when is disliking someone and being negative how we feel destructive to ourselves? Sorry I'm not referring to lettacehead as Rebecca herself, because what she wrote just annoyed me even more. Nobody should be telling us how we feel is negative, even if it is and alot is going on in the world, but how we feel isn't anything we should hide about and we have a right to state our opinion. Ok so we're negative about the whole wedding thing, but that's how we feel. We who feel that it's a mistake for Jerrry shouldn't have to keep defending ourselves for how we feel. Does that make sense? All I can say is it's gonna take me awhile if possible for me to be happy for him. Is it just me or is lettacehead actually talking down to only the ones who dislike Rebecca? The more I reread what she wrote the more pissed off I'm becoming, because no matter if we don't know Rebecca personally, why should she feel sorry for us for not liking her. She's right on one thing, no matter what not everyone is going to like Rebecca and that's how they feel. I'm sorry, but talking down to us fans who dislike rebecca isn't nice . I'm done now. Kedd, we've gotten along and I'm happy that you're happy for jerry and rebecca, but it's gonna take me longer to actually be happy.

I'm glad you got that off your chest Nanny smiley

The only other thing I am going to suggest is stepping back to think for a minute, how do you suppose Rebecca or Jerry would feel if they were happily in love and they read that people thought they had made some huge mistake? I don't think it's a stretch to say it probably isn't what either of them want to hear right now.

Even if you don't want to believe luttucehead is Rebecca Romijn, I would actually expect Rebecca to feel a little hurt if she dropped in and read that people were not happy about her engagement and never really cared for her (I'm generalizing here - I don't want to dig up the exact quotes in this thread). It might not have intentionally been written to be hurtful, but can you just imagine for a second if the shoe were on the other foot? What if you and Jerry were madly in love, a dream come true, and suddenly a group of fans started to say that they don't trust Nanny, they had a bad feeling about you getting married to Jerry and felt Jerry made a mistake? If it wouldn't hurt you then I'd say you are made of stone! LOL! wink

I don't blame you for defending your opinion though. You probably felt attacked, it's a normal response.

In the end this is why it doesn't matter to me if lettucehead is Rebecca Romijn or not, she speaks from what could easily be her point of view and that's what makes her points valid to me. (By the way, I perfer to error on the side of believing it is her - even if it means people are laughing thinking I've had the wool pulled over my eyes wink )

I am relatively new to this message board. I heard about the engagement and thought I really needed to express my feelings. So I thought I would take a chance but, I was very uncertain to the kind of response I would receive as I for one was not as excited and thrilled like some of you were about this engagement. I was taken by surprise how quickly I was being criticized for what I had to say and how could I make such ridiculous accusations, when in reality I was just only giving my honest opinion on how I really felt just like everyone else.
At first I felt bad and thought that maybe I should not have said anything and kept my feelings to myself, but then hearing what Nanny had to say just reassured me and made me feel much better knowing that I did nothing wrong and it looks like we feel the same way and that is we both do not want to see Jerry get hurt. I was not alone in thinking this way and I am sure there are others who feel the same way too. I think everyone is entitled to say what they feel and everyone has their own reasons for how they feel. Nanny I also have this gut feeling that this is going to be a mistake and yes it does seem like we are always having to defend ourselves and justify the reasons for our opinions. I am also concerned for Jerry and think that he rushed into the relationship from the very beginning as both of them began dating just shortly after they both came out of failed relationships. It is very possible that he is rebounding into another relationship too soon without giving himself enough time to heal and adjust over his last breakup, and now I am worried that he is rushing into marriage.
Nanny I think when lettucehead says she feels sorry for us this is her way of making us feel guilty for feeling the way we do and is only trying to make us believe that she is actually Rebecca and that Rebecca at this very moment is very disappointed and angry with us because we do not like her and we are not happy about her engagement.
I am sorry but by lettucehead pretending to be Rebecca only irritates me more and does not change the way I feel, I still do not like Rebecca in fact it just makes me feel stronger and more sure on everything I have said. Whether this person is Rebecca or not is irrelevant at this point but do you honestly believe that Rebecca would take or for that matter even have the time to come and read message boards let alone post her thoughts just to see what we no-celebs think of her, that is very unlikely and I just think it is silly that we can be fooled into believing that it could actually be her. I am not surprised that we have not seen a post from someone claiming to be Jerry, I am still waiting to see if that happens.

my goodness. I leave for a hurricane and this board turns into pure hell. This thread is full of negativity. Lettucehead, thanks for your kind remarks. And after this week I am definately having one of those real margaritas. Jessebell and Nanny, your remarks are very negative. Maybe the word "hate" was not used. I'm too lazy and too tired to go back and look. But, nonetheless, your remarks about Rebecca are very negative. I don't really see a big difference in your saying you "don't like" and not using the word "hate. Sure "hate" is a stronger term. But, either way- your saying you don't like someone THAT YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW!! maybe I'm just too tired for this crap but I find it very upsetting that a thread about Jerry's engagement is so full of negativity. This forum has always been so positive, so friendly. And I'm not going to fight but this has gotten out of hand. I know one of things that almost all of us love about Jerry is he seems so easy going, so friendly. This forum used to be that way. The bottom line is he and Rebecca are engaged and seem to be happy. Can't we all be happy for them? and can't we all refrain from being so negative?

Hi Tracey, good to have you back! Well, I think things are actually starting to settle down - but you had a lot to catch up on. The way I understoon Nanny's last post was that she'd probably get used to the idea of Jerry and Rebecca getting married but it would take some time and her gut feelings may never change. C'est la vie. I think everyone got what they needed to off their chest - and I hope that the not-so-positive remarks about the engagement and Rebecca herself will not really continue.

I gave people an opportunity to vent, for better or worse. I think it's done with.

Jessebell wrote : "do you honestly believe that Rebecca would take or for that matter even have the time to come and read message boards let alone post her thoughts just to see what we no-celebs think of her,"

Hum, let's see. We know that Charlie O'Connell has said that Rebecca and Jerry surf the web and check message boards back when he was on the Bachelor. We could either just keep thinking she only surfs bboards about "the Bachelor", or she could easily surf the bboards about her boyfriend/fiance as well. Take your pick.

Yes, some actors do read message boards pertaining to themselves! Band members read message boards about their bands and themselves. Sometimes something makes them just upset enough that they delurk and post. I've seen it other places, it's not a stretch. Heck, Tricia Helfer was telling stories about reading the sci-fi Battlestar Galactica message boards and being so upset about what the fans were saying about her (or her character) - her husband had to calm her down. I know you might say this is no proof Rebecca does the same thing - I'm just saying there are examples that this does happen.

Would I be shocked that Rebecca Romijn would take the time to make a post here - heck yeah! Does my mind tell me 'she doesn't have time for this forum' - all the time. But with big news like an engagement maybe she could also be curious to see what the reaction is. Maybe she's stopped by here for a while and we never knew. If it's her, she obviously reacted strongly enough to what someone posted here to stand up for herself and attempt to set the record straight.

jessebell wrote: "I am sorry but by lettucehead pretending to be Rebecca only irritates me..."

Well, right now I don't have any proof this person is pretending. It's up to you what you want to believe, but to flat out state they are pretending might not be accurate.

Hopefully once the season of CJ starts up or some of Jerry's movies come out we will find more common ground and have fun chatting jessebell smiley. For all I know I've chatted with you in the past at another bboard or group and we had fun! Unfortunately, I think we've gotten off on the wrong foot by getting to know one another in a discussion where people are pretty polarized in their thinking and opinions.
