xx Rebecca and Jerry call in to H. Stern Show
« Thread started on: Jan 12th, 2005, 2:20pm »

Now, I wouldn't be me if I didn't pass this info along smiley Rebecca Romijn called in to the Howard Stern Show this morning to wish Howard a Happy Birthday! Jerry also got on the phone and let Howard ask him a few questions.

This is the short recap of the info from the interview:

1) Rebecca and Jerry say the recent tabloid report about Jerry calling Giuliana is "Ridiculous" "Embarrassing" and just not true.

2) Jerry and Rebecca are not technically living together, although he was with her at what was roughly 5:30am - sounding like he had just woken up wink

3) Rebecca says she is "not even near there" as far as getting married to Jerry is concerned. Jerry was a bit more evasive when asked if he would marry Rebecca.

Here is a more detailed run down -

In true Howard fashion, he could not miss out on the opportunity to ask Rebecca a few burning questions about her relationship with Jerry. She actually sounded pretty upset by Howard's questions saying something like 'that's not why I called you' - but he kept pounding away. Howard and Robin asked Rebecca if she and Jerry have moved in together, explaining they have read it in the paper. Rebecca exclaimed "NO!" but let them know that Jerry was "nearby" as she was talking to them. They asked her what he was doing there, and she made a joke saying something like 'oh, he's helping me with all the rain water [it was raining in LA]'.

Howard then asked Rebecca, or suggested that she left John for Jerry and she firmly said "I did not leave John to go to somebody else!" I think Howard then went into his rant about how could she be dating Jerry, it's a 'lateral move' - etc. Rebecca was getting upset and said "Do you know him [Jerry]?" "Oh my God! You don't even know him!" Howard admitted that, "looks wise - Jerry's nice lookin'" and then he jokingly told Rebecca he'd rather "see you with me!" But as Howard kept pressing Rebecca telling her Jerry was a 'lateral move' she told him "I don't think that way." and exclaimed "You think I'm that kind of person!?!" She told Howard he was "not being fair..." and then tried to get Howard's side-kick Artie on her side saying "Artie, you know Jerry!" I'm pretty sure Artie said something like 'yeah I know Jerry - he's a nice guy.'

Howard then told Rebecca that he thinks she should be dating lots of guys now that she's single. Rebecca told him that "Dating is not my cup of tea." She then reminded Howard "you said it's not that fun casually dating - it's not that fun." She explained that when you date "a guy like Jerry, you don't move on." Howard asked Rebecca how many guys she dated after she broke up with John and she said she dated 4 or 5 people before Jerry.

Howard also said Rebecca had to answer this question - he read in Page Six that Jerry called his old girlfriend. Rebecca exclaimed "You believe that story!? That's the most ridiculous story in the whole world!" Howard asked her if she had read about it, or how she found out about it and Rebecca said "He's [Jerry's] the one that told me." Howard tried to say that where there's smoke there is fire and she insisted that the story was "Ridiculous" and that there is "No doubt in my mind" that the story was false. She is "absolutely certain he's not doing that." and they already "talked about it, trust me."

Howard asked Rebecca if she was going to marry Jerry and she said she's "having a great time." Howard then had to mention that she's done a great thing for Jerry - "his name is in the paper now, look what you did for this guy..." He's in US magazine every week - etc. Rebecca responded saying "He's on a hit TV show" (implying that's why he's in the magazines).

Howard asked again if Jerry was living with her and she said "No, we don't live together" but told Howard "He's here right now." Howard asked to speak to Jerry, and Jerry obliged. He sounded pretty tired, sort of mumbling "Hello, How are you. How are you Artie" Howard rambled on about how Jerry's 'got some girl there' and told Jerry that she must be "High Maintenance". Jerry responded by saying Rebecca is a "Wonderful girl." Howard asked him if he's been calling his ex-girlfriend asking her to marry him and Jerry said "I swear on his Mother's eyes" that he has not, insisting "Not at all. No - it's really embarrassing". Howard asked if Jerry called Page Six to set them straight and Jerry said no, it's "better to let those dogs lie". Howard went on about what a wild girlfriend Jerry has, and how he once went on a double date with Rebecca and John. Jerry sarcastically replied "John? Who's that?" Jerry then said he wanted to say hello to some girls at PS 31 (?) who listen to Howard every morning.

Howard asked Jerry how he met Rebecca and Jerry joked it was through "match.com." He said he actually met Rebecca at a party years ago. He then met her at another party last year and got her number through a friend. Howard asked Jerry how Rebecca was in bed and Jerry sarcastically said he's "Waiting for marriage for all that stuff." Howard asked Jerry if he was going to ask Rebecca to marry him and he hesitated - he seemed to be trying to think of the right way to answer that question. Unfortunately my radio faded out as Jerry was answering this question. (I get the feeling he hinted he might want to marry her some day).

Howard then spoke with Rebecca again, trying to ask her how sex was with Jerry. She kept with Jerry's joke of "I dunno yet" joking that they are waiting. I believe Howard told Rebecca she needs to introduce Jerry to him the next time she comes to New York - complaining he couldn't believe she hasn't called him in a long time. Rebecca said she and Jerry have been "Flying under the radar" with their relationship, but Howard laughed reminding her they are in all the papers. Howard asked Rebecca if she was going to marry Jerry telling her 'he said he wants to marry you' and she said she's "Not even near there" reminding Howard that her divorce is not yet finalized.

Well, that's all I got (or can remember) from the interview!

I hate Howard Stern. What a good friend she is to call early and wish him happy birthday after all the *rap he says about her and joc. you know I don't think I can even talk @ 5:30 in the morning. So sweet of Jerry to help her with the rain water so early in the a.m. wink that made me laugh. thanks kedd for suffering through that moron's show to give a play by play. You rock girlfriend!! beware ladies, Howard is known to fequent websites of people he talks about on his shows. If he comes to this one I would like to tell him he sucks and leave Rebecca and Jerry alone.

I agree, Rebecca was a champ to call into Howard's show knowing that he might ask her all those questions about Jerry. At least she gave Howard a piece of her mind telling him he was being "unfair."

I wasn't suffering at all. I'm strange I guess, I enjoy Howard's show. Probably not enough to buy satellite when he moves there next year (I have a feeling things will get too raunchy for my taste) If something comes up that I find boring (I'm bored by some of the sexist stuff more than I'm offended by it) all I have to do it turn the radio off. I just get too many good laughs out of some of his interviews (George Takei calling in this morining was hilarious! Suuu luuu Suuu Luuu)

Sulu called in too? dagnabit. I am a huge fan of the old star trek show. I know I thought that was very sweet of Rebecca to call him on his birthday. Knowing she was going to get bombarded. Its not the constant sex talk that bothers me about Howard. Matter of fact, I could probaly hold my own with him b/c I live by the motto that a dirty mind is a terrible thing to waste. Its just that he goes on and on. Okay, it was funny once now find something else and stop badgering your guest. he's lucky he doesn't talk to me at 5:30 am. I would probaly be a total *itch considering I'm not a morning person at all.

Yeah, Sulu called in and Howard got him to complain about William Shatner as usual. Just hearing George Takei's voice is a riot.

There is actually a recap of the show typed up at HowardStern.com. According to their summary, Jerry suggested he'd be open to the idea of getting married to Rebecca if she wanted to (my radio having issues and I missed part of what Jerry was trying to say... or avoid saying).

That's awesome of Rebecca to call in to Howard.

Dang nabit. I used to tape Howard everyday and then listen to the tape in the car. But a few months ago I started listening to Loveline instead.

I love Sulu as well. sad

Oh well, thanks for the recap! cheesy

Wow - is Loveline is broadcast at the same time as Howard Stern in your area? Or you'd just tape Howard and then listen in the evening? In San Francisco they broadcast Howard in the morning, and do Love Line at night smiley I used to listen to Love Line in LA back before it was syndicated. Like, way before Adam's time (we're talkin' 1986 on Sunday nights). More recently when I was working nights and taking night classes I'd listen to Love Line on the way home (that's how I caught Jerry the time he was on a few years ago).

Contact Music picked up on the story of Jerry calling in to Howard Stern. Oh why did my radio poop out at that critical moment when Howard was asking Jerry point blank if he'd marry Rebecca? Notice they did not quote Jerry saying he'd marry Rebecca, I think his answers were much more cryptic such as 'she's the best'.

ROMIJN TO MARRY O'CONNELL?

JERRY O'CONNELL is so smitten with new love REBECCA ROMIJN, he wants to whisk her down the aisle.

The pair have been dating since Romijn split from husband JOHN STAMOS last year (04).

During an interview with American radio host HOWARD STERN this week (12JAN04), the STAND BY ME star confessed he would marry the sexy actress if she'd agree.

He told Stern, "This girl's the best. I love her to death."

No, Howard is on in the morning and Love Line is on at night. I started to tape Howard because during my drive in the morning he'd always be on a commercial break and his commericals are so long. Plus that way, I could listen to him on the way home as well.

Sorry, I wasn't clear.

Karin, it takes two people to agree to marriage. Although Jerry said Rebecca is 'the best' - I clearely heard what Rebecca said when Howard asked her if she was going to get married to Jerry. She said that she is "Not even near" getting married.

Jerry obviously cares for Rebecca a lot, so how is he supposed to answer that question? If he says "No" then people will say 'he's a player, he doesn't want to marry Rebecca'. He can't exactly say 'yes, I'm going to marry her' unless it's something they agree on together, right? The taboids are taking what Jerry said to Howard's question a little far - considering that Rebecca made it clear that she's having a good time right now and isn't ready to think about marriage yet.

I get the feeling after hearing the interview that Jerry is open to the idea of marriage - but since Rebecca is still finalizing her divorce she's not even close to thinking about it yet.

No 'wedding bells' just yet for Jerry smiley

Love Line started at a radio station in LA. One of the DJ's (Jim Trenton - "The Poor Man") developed a show around listeners who called in with relationship problems. He would give them his advise... not as a professional, but as a DJ. He then got Doctor Drew Pinsky (I think he was still a med student at the time) to sit in on the show since people often called in with medical love problems, drug dependency questions... that kind of thing. They would often get celebrity guests to come in to the show to weigh in with their advise. Gosh, I think some cast members from 90210 would come in when they were first promoting the show, Duran Duran was on twice I think.... many actors and musicians smiley

Adam Carolla (The Man Show) now hosts the show with Dr Drew and it airs nightly (except Saturdays I think?) in syndication in sevaral markets in the US (probably stations owned by Infinity Broadcasting). http://www.kroq.com/loveline/loveline.html

That's probably more than you wanted to know about Love Line huh?
