First of all let me say Nanny let me cover your back, I stand behind you 100% and admire that you stood up and said what you had to say and how you really feel . I feel exactly the same way you do on everything. I think everyone has that right to speak their mind whether they agree or not. No one ever said they hated Rebecca but we do not have to like her either and we have our own reasons for not liking her. As for children I still strongly feel that that is a major issue, cause if children is something that she really wanted, she had the opportunity, it would have been nice to see that she could have put her career aside while having kids cause she was with someone who also wanted kids and would have absolutely loved it and he would have been their supporting her all the way. I know it is not my business or do I want to make it my business why they broke up in the first place and for what ever reason that may be, but again I feel that because it was very clear from the beginning that it was John who filed for the divorce and likely he had some strong feelings for doing so, no one wants to get divorced. If Rebecca was really that unhappy in her marriage and children was not the issue why was she not the one to file the divorce I tend to question a person's credibility somewhat when they were not the one who initiated it. However, it really annoys me when someone posts and attacks others by claiming they know how or what Rebecca feels as if they are that person, so I will not take that post seriously just cause it is alot of speculation but you can still go ahead and say what you feel as you have the right.
Getting married is a big exciting step for Jerry and I just want him to experience everything that comes with it I would not like to see him get his heart broken cause that would be hard for him to have to go through. Now that they are engaged and plan to get married Jerry if he is smart will hopefully look at his relationship with her now in a wider perspective to see if they tuly can be happy as a couple for many years to come, it is important he needs to know this. I would hope that she is being honest with him about their relationship and why she wants to marry him. No one can pretend what they feel or really want or the type of person that they really are forever eventually the real personality will shine through and then Jerry may realize that Rebecca truly was not the girl he thought she was all along.

Jerry O'Connell knows Rebecca Romijn better than all of us. He's been with her for a year and obviously...at least to me, loves her.
I also like John Stamos and am a fan of his work, but things didn't work out for those two for who knows what reasons and who cares for that matter as it is their business and no one elses. When Stamos speaks about his marriage to Romijn and what went wrong, we are only getting half the story. Romijn choses to keep it to herself. We will never know the whole story as to why their marriage didn't work, but we don't need to know, but it is my opinion that it is not JUST one person's fault. It takes two to make a marriage work.
I am very happy for Jerry and Rebecca because they both seem very happy. I hope everything works out for them and they live a long and happy life together.

I have to apologize for being an absantee moderator for the last few days and weeks. I've been in and out of town and busy with other projects and promises I've made to people.
I saw a lot of negative feelings about the engagement posted at the Yahoo group and thought "Oh crap! What could be going on in the forum?!"
I seriously haven't read every word everyone has said here (almost afraid to, and frankly I just don't have energy to get wrapped up in these negative vibes since I don't share in the grief some of you seem to be expressing). I try to give people the freedom to express their opionons good or bad because I know that fans need a place to vent and express themselves. I don't want any flame wars to start - please keep things constructive.
I will say what I said in the Yahoo group here - I think Rebecca has always seemed like a sweet lady in all of the interviews I've seen an heard. I don't think her break up with John Stamos makes her a bad person at all (sometimes relationships just don't work out). I'm very happy for she and Jerry. I really hope this is true love for both of them that will stand the test of time and the pressures that living in Hollywood can sometimes put on a marriage.
Congratulations to both Jerry and Rebecca!
(I've gotta run out and have dinner then I promise to come back and review this thread)

Karin, why do you have to say "Bye Bye Jerry?" He hasn't left the business! He's still an actor who makes movies and TV shows that his fans can enjoy. Married or single, he is still as available as he'll ever be for his fans. I just don't get it? But if you can't be a fan now that he's engaged that's your thing and I can't judge you or say you are wrong because of it. Those are your feelings

*edit* I just read your other posts and it seems you have come to accept Jerry's new status eh? I guess the shock was a little hard to come to terms with but I'm happy to see you have come around (that's if I understand you right and we aren't having our language barrier problems. LOL!) I agree, lets not fight about what should be happy news

Right now I am a little annoyed with both Rebecca and Jerry, let me tell you why it was indicated and I think most people were probably not aware, but when they chose to announce their engagement on Sept. 19th which by the way would have been Rebecca & Johns wedding anniversary, honestly how low is that. They did not even take into consideration John's feelings and whether it would be hurtful to him. Of all the days in a year why decide to get engaged and publicly announce their engagement on that particular day, it almost appears as if it were intentional as if they had something to prove. As a couple they were disrespectful, immature and showed absoulutely no class whatsoever.
I am sad to say but I am beginning to question Jerry's character I always thought he was so caring and cannot believe that he could be so thoughtless, as for Rebecca it would not surprise me for her to stoop to that level. I never really liked her from the beginning and I never will.
When John was asked about his ex-wife's engagement he was quick to say that he gives them his blessing and wishes them all the best. He is such a class act and handled it with such grace, it only shows how intelligent and mature he is and it makes him the better person.
As for Rebecca and Jerry getting married well now I have my doubts, do you really think that they are ready for marriage, in my honest opinion I think that they both have some growing up to do because they definately did not handle themselves with a lot of dignity considering the circumstances. JMO

I know it's too little too late, but I just wanted to thank robandchrismom for jumping in with a clear head in my absense. I agree 100% with everything she said. Lettucehead had some excellent points as well - I often have to catch myself and not fall into the trap set up by the tabloid reporters and media who tend to paint a picture of a situation or a person in a sensationalized manner. It's scary to think many of us jump to conclusions about a person because of what they didn't say or some spin the news puts on something (such as showing John Stamos saying he loves kids - knowing that it might be feeding rumors about his divorce).
By the way, why don't we be a little more careful before we call someone a troll? I can't confirm one way or another if lettucehead is a troll, but the post this person made didn't seem to go out of bounds to me and is good food for thought.

Well, maybe we can follow his lead - since it's the intelligent mature thing to do right? I'm sorry you are upset by the news of Jerry's engagement, I hate to see anyone getting upset by something so harmless and jumping to a conclusion that just because an announcement was made public on a certain date that it was done intentionally to be hurtful to someone else? We don't know the reasons why something was made public when it was. It could have been a coincidence, or maybe there is some positive reason for this happening on the day it did.

kedd it sounds like you are judging John's charater and I get the feeling that you really do not like John or even believe that perhaps John really does like kids. Not too long ago he was on the show Extra and they were interviewing him and asking him about relationships he never once brought up or said anything about his relationship with Rebecca but it showed him attending some type of activity where he was talking and interacting with kids and then during his interview he made the comment "I would really like a baby maybe I should adopt a baby"end of quote. I think he was being very sincere when he made that comment.

Hum, I don't think I said I didn't believe John didn't like kids. I was far from judging his character. I only used it to make a point that the media showed this clip of John knowing full well that the rumors about John and Rebecca's split up involved the issue of having children. I do believe he likes kids and was being genuine when he said it, I don't like that someone would jump to the conclusion that because he likes kids that was the whole reason he got divorced. And for arguements sake if it was the reason he got divorced I still don't think it makes either he or Rebecca a bad person. Sometimes people want different things out of life, or at different times. The issue of having kids is something I personally struggle with and I know it can cause a big conflict in a relationship when two people are not on the same page with this and other issues that are important parts of marriage.
You are also jumping to conclusions about me by saying I don't like John. I always enjoyed seeing him on Full House and he comes across just as likeable as Rebecca and Jerry. I think the open interviews he does on Howard Stern are totally cool! Sorry if you read me the wrong way. Wow!

I don't doubt that at all, but to jump to a conclusion and say 'ah this supports the rumor about his break up with Rebecca. He wants kids, she must not!' could be false. And to assume Rebecca didn't want kids because she didn't comment on it is probably not fair. Just like it was unfair for you to jump to the conclusion I don't like John Stamos. He honestly seems like a cool guy to me - but I don't really know him. Just what I see of him on TV. Same can be said for Jerry, Rebecca, etc.
This is going to seem corny, but hearing the actor Richard Hatch (Battlestar Galactica - new version and 70's series fame) speak a few weeks ago made me think about Jerry and all these other actors we gossip about. He reminded us point blank that "Actors are people, just like you." He added something to the effect of "Many people think actors are special and put them on a pedestal - that we live a charmed life, but we have problems just like everyone else." It just made me think about how Jerry and Rebecca are just people, and we should treat them as humanely as we'd treat our own neighbors. Maybe that's part of the reason I stopped posting as much also. Here I was making a big fuss about 'a person'. It seemed silly.

Yes and no i accept Jerry's new status. Still there is something deep inside in my heard that makes me sad and hurts me.
And there is something else because now i know that Charlie's girlfriend Sarah is invited to Jerry's and Rebecca's wedding and i'm jealous because she is woman like you and me and not a celebrity "she is just a little nurse" i never liked her and I have a feeling that Sarah's little sister is also invited. It just makes me sad that's all. But please don't laugh at me.

*edit* kedd - you said Jerry is still avaiable for his fans but for me he is not because I only can see him on tv but not touch or speak or take him in my arms and say hello. But for you all who live in America sometimes you can meet Jerry and touch him and speak to him. When i i went to the Universal Studios and had a chance to walk through te set of Crossing Jordan i didn't have a chance to say hello to Jerry or when i was in San Diego with kedd Jerry also didn't show up. I know some fans here at the forum had the chance to meet Jerry or Charlie.

I have never read any gossip about anything, except in here and I haven't even seen anything about Jerry and Rebecca on tv. I don't watch much tv, because I'm too busy on the computer. I just have my own opinion on how I feel about the whole thing. Everyone makes a point and that's just their opinion. The reason why I called Lettacehead a troll is that it means that someone is posing as a celebrity in a forum, I doubt very much that it really is Rebecca, because of what she said about Jerry not giving us the time of day. He would, because we are his fans. Nobody said they hated Rebecca, but they wrote that we did."nobody likes a hater" When did someone in this forum say they hated her? Nobody did. The post didn't make sense, because I never read or heard these so called rumors. I'm like way behind when it comes to stuff like that.
I'm glad Kedd and whoever that you're happy for them, but some of us aren't and it's not because we don't care about Jerry, it's because deep down we just feel that he might get his heart broken. I hope to GOD she doesn't break his heart and stomp on it...... I don't believe what I read anyway, because I know alot is made up. Look at the whole Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt crap? I always was a fan of John Stamos since his Blackie days, but that's not why I don't like Rebecca, it's just something about her that bugs me. I'm happy that Jerry's happy, but that's about it.
I'm gonna stick to my feelings about it and I'm happy that everyone has their own feelings about it.

I know you have been a long time fan and supporter of Jerry. I just feel like we are beating a dead horse at this point. IMHO it's totally expected that some fans will be happy about the engagement news and some will not be - and their reasons are their own. I think I've given all the reasons I can for my opinions at this point and used all the logic I can (but sometimes all the logic in the world can't change a person's feelings. That's life. Maybe it was silly for me to even argue my point of view).
I don't blame lettucehead, myself, or Tracey for taking some things that were posted here negatively. I think the only thing I had a bigger issue with in one of your posts was calling someone a troll, when in actuality their post seemed no more inflamatory than anyone elses posts in this thread. So if you point the finger at Luttucehead we also have to point the finger at a few others who seem to be accusing moderators of things they didn't say and stirring the pot (which is pretty ballsy, don't you think?)
We have gotten along well over the years Nanny, I just don't want our different views to get in the way of that.
I can't wait for this to all blow over! I'd hate to have to lock this discussion because it's causing fights.

for the record, jerry proposed on sunday, sept 18. as we flew home early the next morning, which would have been my anniversary with john, the flight attendents kept coming over and talking to us and trying to look at my hand, which i kept hidden for most of the time. by the time we got home our publicists called us and said that us weekly magazine had found out about our engagement and were going to run a story, and all the others were to follow. the flight attendants had called them. we had no choice but to confirm. we hadn't even told our families yet. we did not want to announce it publicly, it was still very fresh and private. yes, i could have taken the ring off for the flight, but he'd just put it on the night before and i was proud and excited. and i always underestimate what vultures people can be, from those united airlines flight attendants, to the media, to the people who believe what they read. in fairness to jerry, he had no idea that the 19 of sept would have been mine and john's anniversary. why should he? i don't sit around reminding jerry of old special days between me and john. that would be awful. the dates that all this came out were just an unhappy coincidence. we were outted by the tabloids. it sucks. i called john myself to let him know, because i thought he should hear it from me before anyone else. he thanked me and wished us the best.
again, i hope none of you ever have to read awful things about yourself written by people you've never met. it feels awful. we are human beings too, with feelings (and computers)

Karin, I understand that happens for some fans when their fave celeb gets married or engaged (as I teen I remember fans actually cried when Simon LeBon of Duran Duran got married. I never felt that way, but I guess it just happens that way for some fans). I'm sorrry you aren't feeling the same way about Jerry anymore, but life does go on doesn't it? Please focus on the happy things in your life I hope you don't become a stranger.

Heck, jealousy is a normal thing - and I admire your honesty for admitting it. But in all fairness, shouldn't Sarah and her family be invited to the wedding? If you were getting married wouldn't you invite your family and their friends? Sometimes I get confused and think people don't like a person like Rebecca because she is a"celeb" - hence they can't envision Jerry liking a woman like themselves who has a more average job or living. But then people don't like Sarah because she isn't a celeb and has a normal job? I guess my conclusion is that no matter who the girlfriend is or what they do for a living fans will be jealous or unhappy huh? What can you do? (by the way, I think it's great that Sarah is a Nurse. It's a noble profession and I'm sure she makes good living. My sister is a Doctor and she always thought I should become a nurse because they make a good living!)

Hey, those are your gut feelings. But they are kind of based on not really knowing either Jerry or Rebecca personally (here I go again thinking logic will change someones mind. Don't mind me ). I guess I just want to take the positive approach and wish them the best *sending positive vibes their way*.

I don't mean available as in 'Jerry has to meet every fan personally'. I mean available as an actor with a talent to share with us through his Television and film work. That's how you got to know Jerry and become a fan. You didn't get to be a fan of his by meeting him. It's not like he's suddenly going to stop being an actor, so why stop being a fan? (again this is all my own point of view and I'm not trying to insist you change your mind.)
I hope that clarifies what I said Karin I know we will always have our different points of view. I'm glad we have always been able to talk about it in a nice manner. You are a sweetie and I'm glad we met and had fun in San Diego!
